The Community Development Department is responsible for the development and implementation of community goals regarding the natural and built environment.  This includes both planning and building

The Department provides administration to the Planning Commission and support to the City Council.  The department is tasked with maintaining the City's General Plan, the blue print for the future of the City, and reviewing planning permit applications.  The Community Development Director serves as the Zoning Administrator.  The Department also administers building permits

 

Latest News

On May 17, 2018, the City Council adopted Ordinance 626 to amend Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations to be consistent with current State law.  The Ordinance allows ADUs within all zoning districts that allow residential development and eliminates minimum lot size requirements for ADUs.  It will become effective June 16, 2018. 

On April 5, 2018, the City Council adopted Ordinance 625 to eliminate the prohibition against cannabis related businesses within 600 feet of a school or daycare. The Ordinance became effective on May 5, 2018. 

Planning Commission News:  View the Planning Commission meeting for Tuesday, June 26, 2018 here.  The Planning Commission meeting for July 10, 2018 was canceled.  The next scheduled Planning Commission meeting is on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.  Starting in August 2018, the Planning Commission will meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.  All meetings are held in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall, 50 Park Place, Brisbane.  To view past Planning Commission meetings, please visit here.  To view public notices, please visit here

Baylands News:  The Brisbane City Council will hold public hearings on July 12th at 7:30pm and July 19th at 8:00pm.  Meetings will be held at Brisbane City Hall, 50 Park Place, Brisbane.  View the Notice of Public Hearing here. Planning Division:  Includes planning application form and fee schedule, planning application handouts, zoning and land use maps, outline of development projects and sites in the City, the General Plan, Planning Commission, and Zoning Administrator information.

Building Division:  Includes general information on what type of work requires a permit, building permit handouts, a building permit fee estimator, and a list of building codes used by the City.
