Mayor Conway's Jefferson High Roots

Printer-friendly version

Did you know that out of the current 20 Mayors in San Mateo County, FOUR of them graduated from Jefferson High School specifically?  That’s 20% of the County’s Mayors from ONE HIGH SCHOOL!  And two of them, Brisbane Mayor Clarke Conway and South San Francisco Mayor Liza Normandy went from BES, to Lipman, to Jefferson!  Recounts Mayor Conway, "All of this is unprecedented.  When I was a senior in high school, over 60% of the highest SAT scores came from Jefferson High School out of the five schools in the District.  Two of my former classmates later went on to become Federal Judges.  Jefferson is a wonderful storied high school and I urge parents to visit the campus with their up and coming high schoolers and attend the many community festivals that they have there.  County Supervisor David Canepa hosted District 5 Together at Jefferson High back in March, and there is another special event coming up on Saturday, May 19th - Shine! Family Day - a day of free kids activities, food, cultural performances, and live music being put on by Pacific Islands Together from 10:30am-6pm."

On this day, from 10:45am-11am, Mayor Conway will be joined by the four other elected officials who all graduated from Jefferson.  They will engage in a short, moderated panel discussion.  Joining him will be: Mayor Liza Normandy of South San Francisco, Mayor Raquel "Rae" Gonzalez of Colma, Mayor Juslyn Manalo of Daly City, and San Mateo County Community College District Board of Trustees Member and Current Board Vice President-Clerk, Maurice GoodmanDon't miss it!
