New Brisbane Library Update

Printer-friendly version

At their March 15th City Council Meeting, the Council voted unanimously to release the final design, plans, and specs of the New Brisbane Library so that qualified contractors could begin to bid on it.  The bid period will be open for a few months, with the construction contract estimated to be awarded by the Council in June, and construction starting shortly thereafter.  Staff and Library architect, Siegel & Strain, are aiming for the New Brisbane Library to open in time for the Fall 2019 school year.

The Council at that 3/15 meeting also approved a $1.7 million low-interest loan with the County of San Mateo.  Both of these items amount to huge steps forward in the overall project.  If you’re excited about seeing the New Brisbane Library become a reality, the Friends of the Brisbane Library are looking for donations to meet their fundraising goal of $100,000.  They are over a third of the way there, and are nearing the point where a design for the donor recognition wall will be determined (see below).  If you are interested in learning more or would like to make a donation, please visit www.fobl.info or contact Brisbane Library Branch Manager Francisco Vargas at vargas@smcl.org.

The location of the donor wall will be in the courtyard along the walkway between the library and the community room. This wall is approximately 17.5' long and 9.5' high.
