Brisbane encompasses approximately 20.1 square miles (3.1 sq. mi. land and 17 sq. mi. or 85% water) near the lower slopes of San Bruno Mountain in northern San Mateo County. FORM OF GOVERNMENT

The City of Brisbane incorporated on November 27, 1961.  We are a general-law city with a 5-member City Council elected at large.  The Mayor is chosen by the City Council every year and the City Manager is appointed by the City Council as Chief Administrator.
