Thank you, Mayor Cunningham, for Your Year of Service as Mayor

Karen Mayoral Plaque

Last night, we recognized outgoing Mayor Karen Cunningham for her year of stable leadership as Mayor. She reminded us all of the importance of injecting joy as we celebrated our diverse community and the biggest treasure that we have – each other.  In the  past year, she was a strong advocate for the City’s residents and businesses on the local, County, State, and National levels. She extended fire safety – with a 100 feet perimeter around undeveloped parcels in Brisbane and pushed for a reduction in hazardous vegetation, as well as  SamTrans Route 292 continuing its extension into San Francisco, Airbnb regulations and enforcement, Small Business Grants, a San Mateo Credit Union ATM at City Hall, and coming up with the idea to have on-site branch visits with SMCU representatives.  As a Board Member of the City/County Association of Governments, she took a very proactive and strong NO position on bills that would erode our self-governance, such as SB9 and SB10.  Read the full Proclamation that was presented to Councilmember Cunningham below.

Congratulations to newly appointed Mayor Coleen Mackin, and Mayor Pro-Tem Cliff Lentz! They were both sworn in by former Mayor W. Clarke Conway, who returned to the Council Chambers to administer the Oath of Office. Thank you to everyone who joined the celebration virtually on Zoom, YouTube, as well as on Ch. 27.
