Sierra Point Parkway Pavement Maintenance

cape seal

As part of the City's annual pavement maintenance efforts, contractor American Pavement Systems will install an asphalt rubber cape seal at Sierra Point Parkway between Lagoon Rd and the Highway 101 overpass. The first item of work is removal of existing striping and pavement markings and placement of temporary striping on June 27th.

Next, the contractor will apply the first course, an asphalt rubber chip seal, to Sierra Point Parkway on June 30, 2022, and then a slurry seal will be applied over the chipped surface on July 11 and 12, 2022.  Work hours are between 8 AM and 5 PM each day.  During this time window, a pilot car will serve to guide traffic between 9 AM and 4 PM.  Motorist delays of about 5 minutes should be expected within the project limits between 9AM and 4PM. Also, access to Fisherman’s Park at the north end of the work will be impacted on workdays when new surfacing is being applied. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

Installation of permanent thermoplastic striping is scheduled to occur on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

The City received grant funds from CalRecycle to utilize recycled tires to cost-effectively maintain this pavement.
