Gregory Strecker

Greg Strecker

Greg Strecker is “custom-made” for the City’s Complete Streets Safety Committee.  As a Safety Manager at First Transit, Greg has an extensive background in Transportation and Safety.  It goes back to his freshman year at UC Davis, when he started driving buses for Yolo County, and what launched him into Transportation work.  After graduating with a degree in Political Science – Public Service (along with two minors, one in Economics and the other in Latin American & Hemispheric Studies), Greg grew even more passionate about the safety aspect of Transportation and would find himself gaining additional hands-on experience in roles at SFO, San José Airport, Facebook, and SF Paratransit before landing at First Transit.  His company’s main contract is with Stanford University, specifically the University’s Marguerite Shuttle and Bus Service.

Greg and his partner moved to Brisbane just last December, but it wasn’t long after that he found himself wanting to give back to his newfound community.  Reading through The Blast one day, he saw the announcement of the City accepting applications for its Complete Streets Safety Committee.  Mulling it over, and considering his experience in safety, Greg thought this would be a great opportunity to give back.  Seeing the same announcement on the signboard afterwards sealed the deal!  Greg applied and was appointed to the Committee this past July and is currently serving a 4-year term.

“Right now we’re researching what other cities do for their Residential Parking Permit programs and seeing how aspects can help alleviate some of our own parking issues in Central Brisbane.  I’m looking forward to other safety projects within Brisbane next!”

Greg would love to hear from you if you have questions about the Complete Streets Safety Committee.  He is all about public service, transportation, and safety so if you’ve got something on your mind you’d like to share with him, please reach out to him at cssc-strecker@brisbaneca.org.
