Airport Community Roundtable

The San Francisco International Airport/Community Roundtable is a voluntary committee to address community noise impacts from aircraft operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Roundtable is a voluntary group of elected officials dedicated to representing the citizens of San Francisco and San Mateo County to achieve noise mitigation through a cooperative sharing of authority among the aviation industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), SFO management and local government.

Airport Land Use Committee

City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) is the Airport Land Use Commission and has conferred the operational, day-to-day issues related to the state mandated Airport Land Use Planning process and the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) to this Committee, to advise and recommend actions to C/CAG regarding the updating of the ALUCPs, and other land use compatibility issues affecting the three airports in the County. The Committee consists of 13 members representing 10 cities, the County of San Mateo, and the Aviation Community (two representatives).

Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)

ABAG stands for the Association of Bay Area Governments. Their mission is to strengthen cooperation and collaboration across local governments to build healthier, stronger communities. ABAG is part regional planning agency and part local government service provider. They accomplish our goals by providing planning services and cost-effective ABAG member services to local governments struggling with rising costs and diminishing incomes.

Bay Area Water Supply Conservation Agency

The Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) was created on May 27, 2003 to represent the interests of 24 cities and water districts, and two private utilities, in Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties that purchase water on a wholesale basis from the San Francisco Regional Water System (SF RWS). Brisbane is a member of BAWSCA to help conserve water by offering programs and rebates.

Brisbane Baylands Community Advisory Group (BBCAG)

The Brisbane Baylands Community Advisory Group was established in the Spring of 2005 under the auspices of the CA Dept. of Toxic Control (DTSC) as provided for in California law.

The purpose of the Brisbane Baylands Community Advisory Group is to provide an open forum and community-based input from the communities of Brisbane, Daly City, and San Francisco and to advise the agencies charged with the remediation actions on three contiguous sites commonly referred to as the Brisbane Baylands.

Brisbane Housing Authority

The Brisbane Housing Authority was activated in 2011 through adoption of Resolution 2011-15. The Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, filled by the Brisbane City Council members.  Following dissolution of the Brisbane Redevelopment Agency in 2012, the Housing Authority assumed control over the Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds previously held by the Redevelopment Agency. 

Housing authorities are regulated under the State Health and Safety Code (Sections 34200-34334). Under State law, housing authorities may:

  • Prepare, carry out, acquire, lease, and/or operate housing developments for low income households.
  • Provide for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, alteration, or repair of all or part of any housing development.
  • Provide financing for the acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, refinancing, or development of housing for low income households
  • Provide counseling, referral, and advisory services to persons and families of low or moderate income in connection with the purchase, rental, occupancy, maintenance, or repair of housing.
  • Acquire, plan, undertake, construct, improve, develop, maintain, and operate land on which mobilehomes or a mobilehome park are, or may be, located, where at least 20 percent of the mobilehomes are occupied by low income households.

Caltrain Modernization Local Policy Maker Group

Caltrain Electrification will electrify the corridor from San Francisco Caltrain Station to the Tamien Caltrain Station. Electrification improvements include converting diesel-hauled trains to electric trains, increasing service to six trains per peak hour per direction, and maintaining operating speed up to 79 mph. The primary purpose of Caltrain Electrification is to improve Caltrain system performance and curtail long-term environmental impacts by reducing noise, improving regional air quality, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

County Library JPA - Liaison with Friends of Brisbane Library

The Friends of the Brisbane Library is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes the Brisbane Library. They organize, develop, and procure events and resources to sustain our small but treasured library. The Brisbane Library offers a unique and intimate setting in the heart of downtown Brisbane, just south of San Francisco. Visit us early in the day or in the evenings for a relaxing environment, or enjoy music and the bustle of a vibrant community gathered together on weekday afternoons. They meet every 2nd Monday/bi-month at 8:15am at the library.

HEART of SMC’s Membership Agency Committee

HEART meets critical housing needs in San Mateo County by providing land acquisition, rehabilitation, and early funding to affordable housing projects for low-income residents. HEART’s mission is to create and preserve affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families by raising and investing money from public and private sources. HEART meets annually in May.

League of California Cities

The League of California Cities has been shaping the Golden State’s political landscape since the association was founded in 1898. The League defends and expands local control through advocacy efforts in the Legislature, at the ballot box, in the courts, and through strategic outreach that informs and educates the public, policymakers, and opinion leaders. Cal Cities also offers education and training programs designed to teach city officials about new developments in their field and exchange solutions to common challenges facing their cities.

North County Fire Authority Board

Administration and supervision of operations, emergency response, training, fire prevention, public education, and wildland fire trainings for Daly City, Brisbane, and Pacifica. The three cities employ firefighters, maintain fire stations and apparatus, and coordinate each city’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The NCFA board is a liason between the City and NCFA. They meet once a year in June/July.

Peninsula Clean Energy

Peninsula Clean Energy provides clean energy, including from sources such as wind and solar that are 100% carbon-free and we are on target to become 100% renewable by 2025. With clean power at lower cost, Peninsula Clean Energy uses energy sources include solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal.

Since 2016, Peninsula Clean Energy has saved over 1.2 million metric tons of carbon emissions, an amount equivalent to avoiding the use of 141 million gallons of gas.

Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance (Commute.org)

Commute.org’s mission is to reduce the number of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by commuters to decrease congestion, improve the environment, and enhance quality of life. We do this by encouraging and supporting the use of sustainable alternatives to driving alone. We envision a region where all residents and employees have access to equitable, sustainable, affordable, and safe transportation options and use them as their primary modes when commuting on the Peninsula

San Mateo County Emergency Services Council

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Homeland Security Division works daily around the clock by air, land and sea to prepare and protect our residents from a range of threats. These threats include terrorism, natural disasters, hazardous materials, global disease outbreaks and other emergencies. These operations are carried out 24/7 through the Area Office of Emergency Services and the Emergency Services Bureau.

Successor Agency to the Former Redevelopment Agency

On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court issued its ruling in California Redevelopment Association et al. v. Ana Matosantos et al.  The Court upheld AB1x26, invalidated AB1X27, and extended all statutory deadlines under AB1X26.  As of February 1, 2012, redevelopment agencies throughout the State ceased to exist.

On July 1, 2018, a Countywide Oversight Board was established in accordance with Health and Safety Code 34197(j).  The City's Oversight Board was dissolved, and the San Mateo County Controller's Office is staff to the new Countywide Oversight Board.  The Board is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the Successor Agencies as they wind down the affairs of their former redevelopment agencies.  All action items, including the ROPS, are subject to the Countywide Oversight Board review and approval going forward.  Link to the San Mateo County Oversight Board is available here.  Past Agendas and Minutes of the City's former Oversight Board are available by clicking here
