Let's Get the Kids off the Street and into the Gym...FIRE IN THE RING BOXING GYM - Giving Kids a Fighting Chance, One Round at a Time

We are all well-aware that businesses were negatively affected by the pandemic; also affected were non-profits due to shelter-in-place orders and cancelled events and annual fundraisers.  Fire in the Ring Boxing Inc. is an example of one of those.  Fire in the Ring (FITR) is a Brisbane-based boxing gym located at 180 Industrial Way founded by Jimmy Ford who started boxing at age 10 at a gym in the Tenderloin to keep himself out of trouble.

Let's get kids off the street and into the gym.  The mission of the gym is “giving kids a fighting chance, one round at a time.”  Recently, one of the “kids” that trained there for many years under his coach and manager Miguel Rios, has gone on to become a pro boxer – Charlie Sheehy. Read more about Charlie here.  At FITR, Miguel continues to train Charlie locally.
